For creating something unique from lego bricks, you need devotion and above all a great imagination. And to craft a working locomotive out of legos is a real challenge and tests out your patience.
However, Eric Starr has it all in him and his Illinois Central 4-8-2 Mountain Type 2350 is a proof of it. He started building it in November, 2009 and finished it in February, 2010, but what a spectacular creation he’s come up with.
The working replica model is 8-wide, but reaches 10-wide at the pistons. It is about 11 bricks tall and a little over 21” long. Also, there are large drive and train wheels from Big Ben Bricks LLC.
The only thing other than lego bricks used in this replica is two green LEDs that are fitted as the marker lights on the front. On the other, 2350 in real life was designed for an 18-degree curve; however Eric’s replica can take much sharper turns.
This awesome art replica locomotive is fully operational on Lego track including switches and cross track.
